Sidekick was born out of friendship, grew from our love of beer and resulted in a brewery by the river
Where it all started
From the rekindling of an old friendship and a shared passion for homebrewing, Mike Reimer—a mechanical engineer—and Barnaby McRae—a science teacher—started daydreaming of opening a brewery back in 2016.
Maria Reimer was soon an invaluable addition, with her design experience and passion for bringing teams together. Through mutual friends, Kathy Kwon joined the group, bringing her huge heart for community and startup business background.
Six years later, Sidekick was born in Fall 2022. And we couldn’t be happier to share it with you.

The beauty of art and science is where they intersect—in curiosity. We love the science of brewing—and what’s beyond the science, where creativity and spontaneity can flourish. We’re here to serve Chilliwack and any and all who come by. We don’t aim to have endless options to choose from. We’re here to ensure anything we do offer—from our beer, to our food, to our service—reflects our care and desire to put our best foot forward with a commitment to always improve.
We choose collaboration over competition
We believe when other breweries and local businesses do well, we’re all better off. We strive to practice generosity and work collaboratively with other breweries and businesses so we can all share in the wins.
